The Soshiku app is now 50% off until July 23rd
The Soshiku app for the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi is now 50% off - just $1 - in the App Catalog until July 9th 23rd. But don’t thank us, thank Palm! They’ve made all the apps in the App Catalog half-off (while reimbursing the developers for full price) so now would be your chance to get all the apps you want while supporting the developers for their hard work. Have a great weekend!
Edit:...
Soshiku has a new toll-free support number
Hey there, we just redesigned our contact page. Take a look! And do you know what else is new? We have a new support phone number! If you have any kind of questions or concerns, just call us at 1 (877) 395-1151 to speak to a live person (me, of course ;)) or you can leave a message and I’ll gladly call you back.
Customer support is very important to me, as I want all of you to be happy with...

Feature update: discussion email notifications
Last year in August we added a new feature that let you receive email updates when new messages were posted on certain assignments, but you had to click a checkbox for every assignment you wanted updates for.
With the launch of our newest feature (sharing assignments with partners), we’ve decided to merge the two features and make it more automated. Instead of having to explicitly mark...

How to get SMS notifications if you're not in the...
I get plenty of emails from people in other countries asking if there is some way they can use the text message notification feature of Soshiku. I frown every time I have to say “sorry, you’re out of luck” since the text messaging service we use does not support carriers outside of the US at this time.
There is a workaround, however, but only if you don’t plan on having...

New in Soshiku: Share Assignments with Partners...
We just released a big new feature: sharing assignments with partners. Yes, your partners have always been able to access, add tasks, and attach files to your assignments, but how would they get to them? Either you had to send them the link or they had to go to your profile and look in your activity feed for the assignment.
Not anymore! Now, whenever you add or edit an assignment, you have the...
Add recurring assignments via SMS, email, and...
Pro users are now able to add recurring assignments via text messaging, email, and quick-add. We’ve added both an “every” and “recurring” keyword to make the assignment recurring, however they vary slightly. For example,
Journal entry in english due every tuesday
Sets the due date to next tuesday and makes it recur. But if you have a recurring assignment which is...

Soshiku Pro - not bad for an 18-year old
The awesome Christopher Dawson over at ZDNet Education, who has written about Soshiku back in 2008, has just shared his thoughts about Soshiku Pro. He writes:
While this is all well and good, many of the students who could benefit the most often can’t afford the $5/month. If Soshiku were to explore licensing deals with schools, however, then districts could provide the service to their students...

The Future
Since there hasn’t been any exciting or big news in these past months, it might seem like the development of Soshiku has been stagnant. Today I decided that Nonatomic should be more transparent, so I’d like to share with all of you what’s happening, why there hasn’t been significant updates, and the roadmap for everything I want to do in the future.
These are listed in the...

Add assignments to courses with long names more...
An anonymous user on our UserVoice site came up with a good point:
It’s great that I have a course called “Historical Challenges of the Roman Catholic Church”. But it’s a total pain in the rear to text!
Well I’m glad to announce that we’ve made it easier to add assignments to courses with lengthy names when using SMS. Now, Soshiku first looks for courses with...

New redesign, new business name
Soshiku’s company has a new name!
We’ve changed our name from Definitialize to Nonatomic. Actually, Definitialize was not an official business since it has never been registered as one. The name was a placeholder until we could think of a better name for our official business. We didn’t like Definitialize too much, so we went with Nonatomic. And good news: Nonatomic has been...
Preview the new Soshiku redesign
We’ve been hard at work with giving Soshiku a much-needed facelift. We are planning on making it live sometime this week, while in the meantime making sure there are no bugs we have to squash. If you’d like to preview the new design right now, just visit http://s.soshiku.com. You can log in and use it just like the regular Soshiku site, except be aware that the profile pictures do not...

Find your partners easier with People Search
When you visit your partners page, you’ll now notice a form titled “People Search” which allows you to search everyone on Soshiku. Now you can easily find potential partners in the Soshikusphere. Can we keep using that word? :)
10,000 users later...
Can you believe it? Soshiku just recently hit 10,000 users (we’re also nearing 50,000 assignments). Ten thousand users in a six-month time span may seem miniscule, especially compared to more popular startups, but to me this is a truly wonderful milestone. I had no idea Soshiku would become as popular as it is today, and it seems like just the beginning.
I thought it’d be fun to share...

Mobile notes and tasks out of beta
Have a good weekend? We sure did, and we’re back with another update. A while ago we announced a new feature that let you add notes and tasks to your assignments via email or text messaging, but it was experimental and prone to bugs.
Today, we bring that functionality out of beta. It’s now more usable and reliable, and known bugs have been squashed. The help page has also been...
Search updates
Hi everyone! The search functionality of Soshiku has just been updated with a couple of things.
Firstly, Soshiku now searches all of your notes! We never realized how important searching your notes would be, until a fellow Soshiku user suggested it on UserVoice. Thanks!
And secondly, Soshiku can now search not only your attachments, but also your partners’ files that have been attached to...

Happy Holidays!
There hasn’t really been a good way to share assignments themselves with your partners (so they know how to get to them), until now.
Tonight we rolled about a cool, subtle new feature that will greatly help users. All of your assignments with the access of “partners only” are now shown in your activity feed, but they are only visible to your partners, so...

Let your voice be heard with UserVoice
It’s now easier than ever to submit a feature request or a bug report with UserVoice.
There’s now a feedback tab located to the left of every page which brings you to Soshiku’s UserVoice page. You can anonymously submit a feature request or a bug, and you can also vote on other suggestions if you like them!
We hope adding UserVoice to Soshiku will let you speak your mind and to...
New: Add notes and tasks from your phone
Now you can add notes and tasks to your assignments from your phone (email too!). Just text add@soshiku.com with the query (for example) “T world history@ Read pages 35-50” to add the task “Read pages 35-50” to your assignment “World History.” For notes, just use N instead of T.
Read more about it here!
Please keep in mind that this feature is experimental, so...
T-Mobile issue resolved
Some users with T-Mobile trying to add assignments via SMS might have experienced an issue where it wouldn’t add their assignments because “no user was found with that phone number.” This has just been fixed, so now it works 100%.
Also, another bug has been squashed where an error occurred while going directly to the tasks page (http://soshiku.com/tasks).
My apologies to those...
"I'm done with you."
Now you can archive your courses. For when you want to delete a course, but not really! Read more about it here.
Now with default notification options!
Can you believe it? We just made Soshiku a lot more awesome by implementing our #1 requested feature.
You can now set default notification options inside your preferences, so they automatically get applied to any assignment you add. Yes, even assignments added from your email or your phone.
Enabling default notifications is extremely easy. You can read more about it here.
Happy Soshikuing!

Soshiku goes gradeless
People logging into Soshiku today might notice some changes. After serious consideration and long thought, it has been decided to completely remove grades from Soshiku. It was more of a problem than it was a feature.
The decision was made because 1) Too many users have mentioned that since they don’t get their grades instantly, their assignments would be wasting space in the “Overdue...
